Frequently Asked Questions
Reflexology
What is reflexology?
Reflexology is a therapeutic practice that applies deliberate pressure to specific points on the feet, hands, and head each of which corresponds to an organ, gland, or system elsewhere in the body. By working these reflex zones, your therapist helps improve circulation, release built-up tension, and encourage your body’s natural ability to restore balance. It’s a structured, intentional treatment not a general relaxation technique and the effects are often felt well beyond the area being worked. Many clients are surprised by how much a foot session can address tension in the neck, back, or digestive system.
Curious what reflexology can do for you? Book a session and let’s find out together.
Is reflexology the same as a foot massage?
They feel similar on the surface, but the approach and intention are quite different. A foot massage focuses on relaxing the muscles and soft tissue of the foot itself. Reflexology uses a precise map of pressure points that connect to specific areas throughout the body so your therapist is working your feet, hands, or head with a particular therapeutic goal in mind. The result tends to be more systemic clients often notice changes in sleep, stress levels, and areas of discomfort that have nothing to do with their feet.

Who is reflexology a good fit for?
Reflexology works well for a wide range of people. It’s especially popular with clients managing chronic stress, sleep difficulties, tension headaches, digestive issues, or general fatigue. It’s also a great option for anyone who prefers a fully clothed treatment or who finds traditional massage too intense. If you’re new to bodywork and not sure where to start, reflexology is often a comfortable and effective entry point and I love walking first timers through it.

How long is a session, and which length should I choose?
Sessions at The Wellness Loft Co run from 20 to 120 minutes. A 20 or 30 minute session is a focused treatment good for a specific area of concern or limited time. A 60 minute session is the most popular choice for first time visitors and gives your therapist enough time to work through all the major reflex zones. A 90 or 120 minute session allows for a more thorough treatment and is ideal if you’d like to incorporate add ones or address multiple areas. If you’re unsure, 60 minutes is a great place to start.

Do I need to undress?
Nope! You stay fully clothed throughout your reflexology session only your shoes and socks come off. This makes reflexology a really accessible option if you’re not comfortable with traditional massage or are trying bodywork for the first time.
Still have questions before booking? Follow us on Instagram we share a lot of info about what to expect there.
What can I expect during my first session?
Your first visit starts with a quick conversation so I can learn a bit about you your health history, any areas of concern, and what you’re hoping to feel after. From there, you’ll get comfortable and I’ll work through the reflex zones at a pace that feels good for you, checking in on pressure as we go. Some spots may feel tender, which is totally normal it usually means that zone needs some attention. Most people leave feeling noticeably lighter and calmer. Drink some water when you get home and give yourself permission to rest if you need it.

Can I add on services to a reflexology session?
Yes and honestly, that’s one of my favorite parts of what I do. I love helping people put together a session that feels complete, not just adequate. Whether that’s layering in a head massage, adding Reiki, or pairing reflexology with something else from the menu, we can build something that really works for you. Just mention it when you book and we’ll figure it out together.

What's the difference between Swedish and deep tissue massage?
Swedish massage uses long, flowing strokes, kneading, and gentle pressure to promote full body relaxation and improve circulation. It’s ideal if your main goal is stress relief, rest, or a general reset. Deep tissue massage works into the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue targeting chronic tension, knots, and postural issues that don’t respond to lighter pressure. It’s more focused and can feel more intense in certain areas, but I always work within your comfort level. Honestly, a lot of sessions end up being a blend of both.
Not sure which is right for you? Book a session and let’s find out together.
Will deep tissue massage hurt?
It shouldn’t and if something doesn’t feel right, I want you to say so. Deep tissue does involve firm, sustained pressure, and areas of chronic tension can feel intense when worked. But there’s a difference between that productive ‘good hurt’ sensation and actual discomfort, and I stay attuned to that throughout. Your feedback guides the whole session.
Ready to feel the difference? Book a deep tissue session.
What is cupping therapy and what is it used for?
Cupping uses suction cups on the skin to lift and decompress the underlying tissue, increase blood flow, and release deeply held muscle tension. It’s particularly effective for areas of chronic tightness that don’t respond well to direct pressure the lower back, shoulders, and upper traps are where I use it most often. It can leave temporary marks on the skin, which are from increased circulation (not bruising) and typically fade within a few days. Most people find the sensation unexpected at first and then immediately relieving.
Curious about cupping? Add it onto your next session and see for yourself.
What is stretch therapy?
Stretch therapy is assisted stretching I do with you taking your joints and muscles through ranges of motion you can’t easily reach on your own. It’s great for flexibility, mobility, and that stubborn stiffness that never fully goes away. You can book it on its own or add it onto a massage session.
Book stretch therapy or add it to your session.
What is Reiki and how does it work?
Reiki is an energy based healing practice where I channel gentle energy through light touch or hands held near the body, supporting relaxation and your body’s natural capacity to find balance. Sessions are quiet and calm you just relax and receive. A lot of clients who are skeptical going in end up being the ones who come back for it most. It pairs really well with massage or reflexology if you want to go deeper.

Can I combine services in one session?
Absolutely and please do. I built The Wellness Loft around the idea that you deserve a full experience, not just a single isolated treatment. Tell me what’s going on with your body and what you’re hoping to feel, and I’ll help you put something together. That’s the whole point.
